Seamus Heaney - 'A Sense of Home' Poetry book launch
During the autumn and winter of 2015/16 P6 children participated in a creative writing project which formed part of a pre-opening education programme for Seamus Heaney Homeplace in Bellaghy. With the assistance of Maura Johnston,a local writer, the pupils participated in two writing workshops where they produced their own poems. The poems were then published in a Poetry book which was launched on Monday 13 June in the Burnavon. The children and staff celebrated the wonderful work produced in the project by each of the six participating Primary Schools. We are very proud of our children at Woods and look forward to visiting the Seamus Heaney HomePlace in Bellaghy when it opens in September 2016. Thanks to the Mid Ulster District Council for the funding for this worthwhile project. Treasure your very own poetry books children, well done everyone!
